I created this calculator using JavaScript.  It works for Canadian fixed rate mortgages.  Input the purchase price of the home, your down payment, quoted interest rate, and amortization period.  The insurance cost and total finance amount will be calculated accordingly based on the details from this page by the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation.  Note: in Canada, interest rates are quoted on a semiannual compounding basis (for fixed rate mortgages).
